The game of Poker is based on several games, but still nobody can say for sure what these games are.
One of the Chinese or Persian games can be the an ancestor of the game. According to some resources the game came form France. On the one hand the first country, in which card games appeared was China and the first game with 25 cards and 5 suits appeared in Persia, on the other hand, it was France, where gamblers began to play with decks with 4 suits: spades, diamonds, clubs and hearts. The true origin of the game remains shrouded in mystery. In the USA the game appeared in New Orleans and it was spread all over the country. In 1835 Poker was one of the most popular games and then it was different from the modern version of the game. New Poker variations, which were also very popular appeared during the Civil War. Stud, Draw and Straight Pokers were introduced and they became every popular. New Poker variations such as Stud, Draw and Straight Pokers enjoyed wide popularity during the Wild West period of the US history. Poker is the only casino game, in which players play against each other, but not against the house.
