The origin of Poker is still discussed, as nobody can say for sure from what games it originates. Poker can originate from some Chinese or Persian game. According to some books France is the birthplace of Poker. On the one hand the first country, in which card games appeared was China and the first game with 25 cards and 5 suits appeared in Persia, on the other hand, it was France, where gamblers began to play with decks with 4 suits: spades, diamonds, clubs and hearts. So, there are still a lot of questions and disputes about the game of Poker. In the USA the game of Poker originated from New Orleans and spread along the riverboats that traveled the Mississippi and Ohio rivers. The game of Poker became very popular nearly at once, but then it was a little different from the game we play now. Later, during the Civil War there appeared new variations of this game and they became very popular. Such Poker variations as Stud, Draw, Straight Poker appeared and they were played by millions of gamblers. Poker could be played in nearly every town during the Wild West period in the USA. Only when playing Poker you play against other players and not against the house.
