The game of Poker is based on several games, but still nobody can say for sure what these games are. Poker can be based on one of the Chinese or Persian card games. According to some books France is the birthplace of Poker. On the one hand the first country, in which card games appeared was China and the first game with 25 cards and 5 suits appeared in Persia, on the other hand, it was France, where gamblers began to play with decks with 4 suits: spades, diamonds, clubs and hearts. So, the origin of the game is still discussed. In the USA the game of Poker originated from New Orleans and spread along the riverboats that traveled the Mississippi and Ohio rivers. In 1835 Poker was one of the most popular games and then it was different from the modern version of the game. Later, during the Civil War there appeared new variations of this game and they became very popular. Such Poker variations as Stud, Draw, Straight Poker appeared and they were played by millions of gamblers. Poker could be played in nearly every town during the Wild West period in the USA. Poker is a unique game as each player plays against other players, but not against the house. Poker has many variations, although the rules of play and strategy differ, the hierarchy of winning hands remains the same.
