The origin of Poker is still discussed, as nobody can say for sure from what games it originates.
One of the Chinese or Persian games can be the an ancestor of the game. According to some books and dictionaries the game came from France. The first card games appeared in China, the card game with 25 cards and 5 suits appeared in Persia and it France gamblers played with decks, which had 4 suits, that we have now. So, there are still a lot of questions and disputes about the game of Poker. In the USA the game of Poker originated from New Orleans and spread along the riverboats that traveled the Mississippi and Ohio rivers. In 1835 Poker was one of the most popular games and then it was different from the modern version of the game. During the civil war other Poker variations appeared and they were very popular. Stud, Draw and Straight Pokers were introduced and they became every popular. During the Wild West period of United States history, a place where one could play Poker could be found in just about every town. Poker is the only casino game, in which players play against each other, but not against the house. Though there are a lot of Poker variations, which differ from each other, the principle of winning hands remain the same. Nowadays Poker is one of the popular and most played card games in the world.
