The game of Poker is based on several games, but still nobody can say for sure what these games are.
Poker can originate from some Chinese or Persian game. According to some books and dictionaries the game came from France. On the one hand the first country, in which card games appeared was China and the first game with 25 cards and 5 suits appeared in Persia, on the other hand, it was France, where gamblers began to play with decks with 4 suits: spades, diamonds, clubs and hearts. So, there are still a lot of questions and disputes about the game of Poker. In the USA the game of Poker originated from New Orleans and spread along the riverboats that traveled the Mississippi and Ohio rivers. In 1835 Poker was one of the most popular games and then it was different from the modern version of the game. Later, during the Civil War there appeared new variations of this game and they became very popular. Stud, Draw and Straight Pokers were introduced and they became every popular. New Poker variations such as Stud, Draw and Straight Pokers enjoyed wide popularity during the Wild West period of the US history. Poker is a unique game as each player plays against other players, but not against the house.
