The origin of Poker is still discussed, as nobody can say for sure from what games it originates.
One of the Chinese or Persian games can be the an ancestor of the game. According to some books and dictionaries the game came from France. Stud, Draw and Straight Pokers were introduced and they became every popular. During the Wild West period of United States history, a place where one could play Poker could be found in just about every town. Poker is the only casino game, in which players play against each other, but not against the house. Though there are a lot of Poker variations, which differ from each other, the principle of winning hands remain the same. Nowadays Poker is one of the popular and most played card games in the world.
