The game of Poker is based on several games, but still nobody can say for sure what these games are.
Poker can be based on one of the Chinese or Persian card games. According to some books and dictionaries the game came from France. During the Civil War stud poker, the draw, and the straight Poker appeared and became very popular. New Poker variations such as Stud, Draw and Straight Pokers enjoyed wide popularity during the Wild West period of the US history. Only when playing Poker you play against other players and not against the house.
