The origin of Poker is still discussed, as nobody can say for sure from what games it originates. Poker can originate from some Chinese or Persian game. According to some resources the game came form France. On the one hand the first country, in which card games appeared was China and the first game with 25 cards and 5 suits appeared in Persia, on the other hand, it was France, where gamblers began to play with decks with 4 suits: spades, diamonds, clubs and hearts. The true origin of the game remains shrouded in mystery. In the USA the game of Poker originated from New Orleans and spread along the riverboats that traveled the Mississippi and Ohio rivers. The game of Poker became very popular nearly at once, but then it was a little different from the game we play now. New Poker variations, which were also very popular appeared during the Civil War. During the Civil War stud poker, the draw, and the straight Poker appeared and became very popular. New Poker variations such as Stud, Draw and Straight Pokers enjoyed wide popularity during the Wild West period of the US history. Poker has many variations, although the rules of play and strategy differ, the hierarchy of winning hands remains the same.
