The game of Poker is based on several games, but still nobody can say for sure what these games are.
One of the Chinese or Persian games can be the an ancestor of the game. According to some books France is the birthplace of Poker. Such Poker variations as Stud, Draw, Straight Poker appeared and they were played by millions of gamblers. New Poker variations such as Stud, Draw and Straight Pokers enjoyed wide popularity during the Wild West period of the US history. Poker is the only casino game, in which players play against each other, but not against the house. Poker has many variations, although the rules of play and strategy differ, the hierarchy of winning hands remains the same.
