The game of Poker is based on several games, but still nobody can say for sure what these games are. Poker can originate from some Chinese or Persian game. According to some books and dictionaries the game came from France. On the one hand the first country, in which card games appeared was China and the first game with 25 cards and 5 suits appeared in Persia, on the other hand, it was France, where gamblers began to play with decks with 4 suits: spades, diamonds, clubs and hearts. So, the origin of the game is still discussed. New Orleans was the first state, in which the game of Poker appeared, later, the game was played all over the country. The game of Poker became very popular nearly at once, but then it was a little different from the game we play now. During the civil war other Poker variations appeared and they were very popular. Such Poker variations as Stud, Draw, Straight Poker appeared and they were played by millions of gamblers. Poker could be played in nearly every town during the Wild West period in the USA. Only when playing Poker you play against other players and not against the house. Poker has many variations, although the rules of play and strategy differ, the hierarchy of winning hands remains the same.
