Poker originates from several games, but hardly anybody knows these games. One of the Chinese or Persian games can be the an ancestor of the game. According to some books France is the birthplace of Poker. During the Wild West period of United States history, a place where one could play Poker could be found in just about every town. Poker has many variations, although the rules of play and strategy differ, the hierarchy of winning hands remains the same.
