Poker originates from several games, but hardly anybody knows these games.
Poker can originate from some Chinese or Persian game. According to some books and dictionaries the game came from France. China was the first country in which card games appeared, in Persia there was a game with 25 cards and 5 suits and in France gamblers began to use decks consisting of suits made from spades, diamonds, clubs, and hearts. So, there are still a lot of questions and disputes about the game of Poker. New Orleans was the first state, in which the game of Poker appeared, later, the game was played all over the country. The game of Poker became very popular nearly at once, but then it was a little different from the game we play now. During the civil war other Poker variations appeared and they were very popular. Stud, Draw and Straight Pokers were introduced and they became every popular. Poker could be played in nearly every town during the Wild West period in the USA. Poker is a unique game as each player plays against other players, but not against the house. Though there are a lot of Poker variations, which differ from each other, the principle of winning hands remain the same. Nowadays you can play Poker in any casino in nearly any country.
